The City of Crystal Police Department works closely with the community to provide Neighborhood Watch Programs within the city to bring together the police and community for the purpose of providing safety information to residents. these programs also teach residents how to use the 911 system, recognize suspicious activities, crime in Crystal, how criminals operate, and how to protect yourself.

How do you start a watch group?

  1. Arrange a meeting between your neighbors and the Police Department by contacting Officer Matthew Wright of the Crystal Police Department at (763) 531-1026. Have at least 50% of your neighborhood in attendance to participate in the neighborhood watch group meeting.
  2. Conduct two meetings a year in your neighborhood. One meeting can be a social gathering, such as Minnesota Night to Unite, to get to know your neighbors. The other is a crime prevention meeting with updates on crime patterns and trends. We'll have the opportunity to answer any of your questions and discuss safety programs.

By creating these requirements, Crystal is striving to be one of the most credible Neighborhood Watch Programs in the Twin Cities. We only post Neighborhood Watch signs in areas where citizens have been actively meetings in Neighborhood Watch Groups.
