Crystal and New Hope will hold the bulky waste curbside cleanup from April 1, 2024 to April 11, 2024. Postcards with a map of your zone and a list of acceptable materials will be mailed to each eligible household in March 2024 (example below).

You can also use the interactive map to find your date. Click on the map to the right to launch the interactive map. Then type in your address in the search box. Either click on your address in the autofill below the search box (recommended), or type in the complete address and hit enter. Next click the right arrow in the box that says "Curbside Cleanup Info" to pull up the page with your date and other details.

Acceptable items include old/unusable furniture, mattresses, carpet, general household junk (up to 100 lbs. per item), vacuum cleaners, and appliances.

The cost of the bulky waste curbside cleanup program has more than doubled in the past five years. To reduce costs the Hennepin Recycling Group agreed to set limits on the amount of material collected. Minor changes include:

  • General junk and household building materials: Pile limited to ONE level truck bed (Generally 4’ x 8’ x 2’).
  • Unusable furniture: Limit TWO.
  • Mattresses or box springs: Limit TWO.
  • Appliances: Limit TWO

Items exceeding limits will be left behind by the hauler. Residents will need to arrange and pay for separate disposal.

Items NOT accepted include: electronics (TVs, computers, etc.), hazardous material, paint, concrete, railroad ties, tires. You may dispose of hazardous material and paint for free at the Hennepin County Drop-Off Facility, 8100 Jefferson Highway, Brooklyn Park. They also accept electronics and tires. There is a small fee on some items.

Have material out by 7 a.m. on the day of collection in your zone. Trucks will only go through your area once. However, there will be three different types of trucks - one for appliances, one for bulky items, and one for regular trash. Each truck will come at a different time on your collection day.
